Krishvy Naëck (PhD): composition, saxophone, research in cinema
She started playing the saxophone at the age of 11 and later joined the Strasbourg Conservatory. Quickly passionate about musical composition, she embarked on film studies specializing in film music right after high school. She furthered her research in a master's program under the guidance of Georges Bloch and simultaneously worked on composition with Annette Schlünz. In her thesis, she included a recomposition of a film sequence performed by the chamber orchestra of the University of Strasbourg.
She then pursued an international joint PhD between the universities of Paris 8 and Montreal (UdeM), supervised by Marguerite Chabrol and Serge Cardinal. Her research focused on questioning the ideology of Disney studio films through the lens of film music and musical numbers. During her time in Montreal, she had the opportunity to attend a seminar on screen arts techniques as part of the InMics program (International Master in Composition for Screen), led by FX Dupas and Tristan Capacchione.
Throughout her film studies, Krishvy Naëck created compositions for various media. Her orchestral compositions have been performed at St. Thomas Church in Strasbourg (Esquisse(s) for wind orchestra, 2014), at the Würth Museum in 2017 (by l'Imaginaire ensemble), and at the Bauhaus as part of the Impuls festival (orchestral creation in 2016, conducted by Aki Schmitt). She composed original scores for numerous short films, with her latest collaboration being with Axel Torre for the short film La ligne des morts (Montreal, 2022).
She also composed for dance and theater performances, including a 2015 project based on Lewis Carroll's work that she co-directed (with nearly 70 participants), supported by the city of Strasbourg, the University of Strasbourg, and the Alsace Cultural Agency. She has also composed for the theater companies Waterzooï and Les Lanternes Publiques.
She defended her thesis in March 2022 and earned a doctorate in film studies. As a member of the sound creation laboratory in Montreal, she continues her research on film music and recently collaborated with the Philharmonie de Paris on the program notes for Jō Hisaishi's concert "Hisaishi Symphonique".
Flora Niess: arrangements, mixing, piano
She started playing the piano at the age of 4 and quickly made promising progress: she gave her first concert at the age of 10 with the Obernai Philharmonic Orchestra, and her first solo concerts at the age of 13: in Alsace, where she notably participated in the Concert des Jeunes Talents in Strasbourg, and all the way to New York where she performed at various venues, including the Greenwich House Music School Concert Hall. She then joined the Strasbourg Conservatory, which allowed her to deepen her knowledge of music theory (listening, analysis) as well as the practice of chamber music.
At the end of high school, she chose to pursue engineering studies in a Music-Studies program that allowed her to continue exploring the piano, thanks to the teaching of Claudine Simon, and to share and enrich her musical universe through an eclectic ecosystem. She had the opportunity to renew her experience as a concert performer by interpreting George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the INSA-Universities Symphonic Orchestra.
After obtaining her engineering degree followed by 8 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of wind and photovoltaic energy, she is now reconnecting with her initial passion for music by partnering with Krishvy Naëck to bring their project of composing music for other arts to life. To complement their skills, she has completed a training in mixing and mastering at ShamanStudio in Bordeaux. In addition to her engineering work, she has also ventured into arrangements, primarily for piano, saxophones and clarinet, which has allowed her to expand her repertoire to include film music.
Lika Laloum: violin, viola
Violinist and violist, Lika started playing the violin at the age of 4. After studying the violin in Paris, she dedicated herself to the viola. She entered the Regional Conservatory (C.R.R.) of Paris and graduated from the specialized and higher cycles. In 2006, she won the 2nd prize at the National Competition for Young Violists. Passionate about playing on period instruments, she followed the training program of the Young Atlantic Orchestra (J.O.A.) and then joined Simon Heyerick's class in baroque violin, in Paris.
Currently, she plays in ensembles such as Insula Orchestra, the ensemble Les Surprises, Le Poème Harmonique, Les Musiciens du Louvre, the ensemble Les Accents, or the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées. She also performs chamber music in an eclectic repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music.
She has been collaborating with Musique Emphase since spring 2024, both to interpret the original musical creations composed by Krishvy and to play in a trio with an eclectic repertoire arranged by Flora.
